Our team at Gunner Roofing recently completed a masterful premium exterior restoration on this unique, historic estate in Washington, Connecticut.
As a certified installer with the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau, we replaced the main roofs with hand-installed, 3/8” CCA Treated Perfection Canadian Blue Label #1 Cedar Shingles, secured exclusively with stainless steel ring shank nails for maximum longevity.
This wood shake artistry was seamlessly integrated with a high-performance 60 Mil Black EPDM flat roof system over the lower low-slope sections, requiring full deck demolition and rigid insulation installation to guarantee flawless water management.
The entire structure was then beautifully accented with custom-fabricated 16oz copper details, including custom drip edges, hand-soldered chimney flashings, 18-inch valleys, and a gorgeous 6-inch half-round copper gutter system with matching 4-inch round downspouts.
Additionally, we upgraded the home’s efficiency by installing two new Velux solar-powered opening skylights complete with white room-darkening shades and ice and water defensive membranes. The beautifully cleaned property is now fully preserved against the New England elements, backed proudly by an elite 40-year material warranty on the cedar craftsmanship.
